Fall 2011 Update

October 29, 2011

Hi there fellas and gurls!

Its been such a long time. Here is a brief update about what is going on in the world of TaughtMe, Uzi & Ari, etc.

I have been co-making a damned brilliant album by my friend Jay Henderson. I spent 2 months in Utah tracking with him in his terrific studio.  It was a deep joy to work with several very talented players.  At home once more in San Francisco, we are now preparing to enter the studio to lay down strings and woodwinds. I’ll return shortly to report on all of this, as the album is one of strong beauty and I expect you’d benefit from hearing it.

In other news, Ben (Uzi & Ari) is flying into San Francisco shortly. He and I are going to finish his new album “Are You Haunted?” which was described in a kickstarter campaign months ago. Without giving too much away, there are some big changes afoot related to Uzi & Ari. Stay tuned.

As for TaughtMe, I am still piecing together a new album called “Am I Old?”.  I expect to really dive in and solve that one in January.  In the meantime, I have been uploading a few items to my Youtube page. Below is a glimpse of the album.

Howdy folks! It’s been some time since I brought news of TaughtMe or Uzi & Ari.  S’pose today I should.  Despite the silence here on Clumsy Congregation, both projects are churning earnest.  Uzi & Ari (Ben) now lives in New York where he is working with some very talented peoples, arranging and rehearsing tunes for his upcoming album “Are You Haunted?”  To raise funds for the records he has begun a “kickstarter” page  where one can snag some really great stuff by donating to the cause.  Check it out here.

As for TaughtMe, my next album “Am I Old?” is moving along slowly and seriously here in my San Francisco space.  I am currently excited about collaborations with talented filmmakers who might be interested in making a music video for a tune from the disk. contact me if that inspires you.

Invaders This past December I returned home for the holidays–winter in Utah, something I haven’t been able to enjoy for a year or so. It was a blessing to share space and time with those who I know truly and love most, one of which was my dad–Curtis Henderson. Throughout his high school years in Star Valley Wyoming, my dad sang and guitared in a band called “the Invaders”, rocking standards at school functions. (the band is pictured left. He’s the one above the drum) Throughout most of my life his aging “Melody Maker” guitar gathered dust and was only  occasionally exhumed to the delights and shouts of us kids.  Doubtless, my early interest in music was sparked magically those rare evenings as my dad strummed “Louie, Louie” or “Wild Thing,” his voice barking freely, tube amplifier rattling.  Strange how quick and thorough music can alter the spirits and colors of a home!  So it has brought me great pleasure in recent years to witness him rekindling his musical flirts, purchasing a fancy new guitar and practicing relentlessly each night.  He’s a diligent  and committed man, qualities that he has brought to his music.  So it just made sense that I should bring recording gear with me to Utah, and to make proof of his talent.  We tracked about 30 songs., most of which are covers, but some of which he composed.  Here are a couple of the covers:

“Wicked Game” (Chris Isaak cover)
